Business Support Consultant

The Business Support Consultant role exists to ensure the accurate flow of transactional data from all reservation platforms to the back office and thereby managing its impact on accounts receivable, accounts payable and the interaction with suppliers.

The tasks and responsibilities are wide and varied with different degrees of complexity making this unit a hot spot for personal development, an in depth understanding of how the business operate and seeing the full cycle of work first-hand.

The role sits in a unit designed to support internal business queries (i.e. it is not a customer facing role) and is ultimately responsible for reducing the manual handling of data and unnecessary interruption of the process flow by supervising the automated flow of data and addressing any shortcomings immediately

Business Support is responsible for these core areas in the business:

  • Ensuring all booked transactions flow timely and accurately from the booking platform to the General Ledger
  • Reacting to system errors through various report checks
  • Daily reconciliation of vendors (non-billback) to ensure all transactions are accounted for daily
  • Reconciliation of all IATA transaction (Hot File, ARC and HMPR reports)
  • Managing the administration of ADMs and ACMs
  • Processing all manner of refunds that cannot be processed in the front office ensuring optimal profitability
  • Respond to all financial queries from the internal Finance Department
  • Respond to all queries from consultants / supervisors concerning travel transactions
  • Monitor all trends in managing system errors and communicate these coherently to the rest of the unit before escalation to Business Process Manager and beyond.
  • Continuously make recommendation for process improvement in order to eradicate inefficient procedures and improve training provision across the business
  • Play an active part in the investigation of NCRs
  • Where appropriate play a part in the ongoing relationship with major travel suppliers
  • Directly submit and manage any technical supplier failure / disruption or notifications

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • a good standard of education. An SVQ / National Diploma/Certificate in a business discipline is preferable but not essential
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A minimum of two years in a business administration/technical support function would be beneficial as would experience of dealing with BSP/ARC
